I've been using WaveLab actually, which is a specialist audio program that I have access to in my role as an audio engineer. I reckon Praat is pretty easy to use for splitting sound files, especially since you can easily hone in on the word, then export, right? I've never really used Praat much.

WaveLab is great because I can apply a noise-reduction profile to a whole set of individual files , say, all those recorded in the same session, since there should be the same background noise, ambiance, etc.

I'm glad you got some good recordings! Thanks for sharing the notes on how you achieved your success.

I'd be curious about your method for chopping soundfiles, seeing as I've spent a lot of time doing that myself. Want to compare notes? I primarily use Praat, and various scripts I've found and modified to my needs.

Of course! I mentioned in the footnote that I was lucky to have had a speaker who didn't mind speaking directly into the mic.
