My Bad!

To anyone who subscribes via an RSS feed reader, I profoundly apologise for the multiple publishing of the last entry, which I think got posted about 7 or 8 times. I thought I’d deleted them all, but they still managed to make it through to my feed reader.
For what it’s worth, you can blame Microsoft, as I use their dedicated blog writing program, Microsoft Live Writer, for offline composition. It returned an error message when I tried to post, but they clearly went through unhindered.
If anyone knows of a good offline blog writer, preferably open source, and bearing in mind that I’ve already tried Scribefire, please let me know.

Jangari, I just wanted to let you know that I AM still reading; I just haven’t commented in a while because I haven’t felt I’ve had anything of value to add to your conversation. Like this entry, for example: I don’t even really know what you’re talking about, so I am zero help in solving your problem. Sigh.
Still, I know that I like it when people chime in just to say that they’re still out there reading, so I thought I’d do the same here:
HI! I’m still out here! I’m still reading!
love,
~Chili

Thanks Chili, I appreciate that.
I don’t blame you for not commenting, it’s mostly been local Australian politics lately.

Tom, a colleague, reckons ‘profoundly apologise’ just ain’t cool. I disagree. And I reckon the OED can back me up:
What on Earth is wrong with apologising ‘to a great extent or degree’?

See? Now THAT I can comment on (asshole*).
I tend to use “profoundly” to describe MY condition (I’m profoundly sorry” or “I am profoundly angry right now) rather than the extent of whatever it is I’m doing. Since profoundly is an adverb, though, there’s technically nothing wrong with saying that you profoundly apologize – it’s no different, really, than saying you sincerely apologize.
*email me if you don’t get this reference – it’s my favorite English teacher joke; I’m not hurling invectives at you, I swear…
