Ever wanted to read this blog in Spanish? Well, Now you can!
Presenting, ¡Matjjin-nehen en Español!
Unfortunately it attempts to translate everything, so nganing-gin becomes nganing-ginebra, but simple translators can be forgiven. In fact if you speak/read Spanish, let me know how accurate how full of glaring errors it is (you can navigate the entire site, I believe).

Wow, that’s actually rather horrible. Especially when it tries to doubly translate what’s already written in Spanish. Un lingusta sin una lengua becomes Lengua del una del pecado del linguista del Un.

I tried translating my blog into Chinese and it was AWFUL. It offered nothing more than a direct translation and conveyed no meaning or context whatsoever. Auto-translation still has a long way to go.

I think the general consensus is that machines will only ever be able to give very narrow, literal translations, no matter how good the auto-translation program is. That is, however, until they invent machines that can think, learn and creatively see links between forms (and abstract forms too, like morphemes) and meanings. But that will hopefully never happen.

Wow. Spanish, huh? You’re so much smarter than I that I can barely understand your blog in ENGLISH! I’ll stick to trying to figure it out in my native language; I’m sure my high-school Spanish skills are woefully undersuited to the task…
