For no apparent reason other than to further pressurise this issue, here’s a quote pertaining to the Australian government and its handling of the David Hicks case:
If our government is prepared to allow any one of its citizens to be sacrificed on the altar of expediency, if our government demonstrates that it is not really concerned for justice, for a fair process, for one person, then none of us know whether circumstances might arise in which the same lack of care, lack of concern, will be exhibited in relation to ourselves.
So, who do you think said it?

Well, to quote from the same man,
“Life wasn’t meant to be easy”

Still, he has a point, but I think the question is how much of it was publicity driven.

Dang, you got it in one.
The quote comes from his latest article on Australians All.

Well, it wasn’t so much my skills, as much as someone who had recently pointed me in the direction of that article, so I shouldn’t claim any prize.
So what do you think of Fraser?

Cheater!
I wouldn’t call it publicity, I think his sentiments in these issues are genuine.
My knowledge of his time in office is pretty much non-existent, but I’ve often heard people remark that he has only recently turned left. I wonder if he still votes Liberal…

Ha ha shame on me.
Yeah you’re probably right about him leaning left in his older years, which is a nice thought since I always thought the general rule was that people became more conservative with age.
Still, there’s plenty of conservative back-benchers in the Libs who were demanding Hicks’ release , so I don’t think it’s really a left-right issue in that sense.
